Banks Power 42255 Ram-Air Intake System

I'm sorry to say this is a waist of money. I have owned 5 Dodge Rams in 13 years and have modified them all. This was the first, and unfortunately last time i used a Banks product. The quality of the built is cheap. The active air door does not match the shape of the opening in the Banks box. There is a gape all around it. The MAP sensor is 1/8 of an inch away from the oil head. They could have clocked it over either direction and it would have been fine. Not sure how long those wires or the censor will survive that heat. There are nuts inserted into the plastic to allow you to screw in bolts to hold the MAP sensor on instead of threading a course screw directly into plastic. That would have been great except one of the nuts have spun inside the plastic so now I can never unbolt it again. The supplied hose clamp to attach this to the turbo is too small. I fought it for half an hour thinking I was doing something wrong when I gave up and just used the one off the stock air box. I have seen NO difference in drive ability or fuel economy. This has been a waist.

So its not the worst product but I sure would love to have a chat with the engineers who designed this intake. Put the Mas air flow sensor in a location that is impossible to access while the intake is installed just so you can have banks logo visible! About the only thing I noticed is a whistle not much of a noticeable increase in HP or TQ. Fuel mileage is the same as stock. I dont know if I would recommend this to anyone, the boots they use are never long enough and I can already tell they are going to be a problem in the future. I recommend to research the other products and maybe some guys will speak up about the material quality of the other products made.

Typical for Banks - superb fit and finish! Had a Banks Intake on my '06 and was very pleased. Banks didn't disappoint on this one either! Installation was pretty straightforward, instructions were very clear and precise. Fitting the tube onto the compressor inlet was a little hard since you have to fit the filter in the intake box at the same time (along with moving around the emissions equipment) but other than that it was pretty easy. Definitely felt the kick from it - and the turbo screams nice and loud! If you're in the market for an intake, this is a good one to consider!
