BD Cool Down Timer

Don`t shut your hot engine down after a hard run. Switching your engine off after a heavy haul when the exhaust temperature is above normal engine idle temperature can result in turbo bearing damage.

With the engine stopped there is no oil flow over the bearings that support the hot turbocharger wheel assembly. This causes the residue oil being burned and the resulting carbon will cause premature turbo failure!

You can prevent this from happening with the Cool Down Timer or the Cool Engine Shutdown!

Simply set the shutdown temperature, lock the door and walk away. The engine will shutdown at the specified temperature.

The Cool Down Timer (CDT) works in conjunction with any K-Type exhaust gas temperature (EGT) probe that is common with most analog pyrometer gauge kits. Wire it to an existing EGT probe or install a new one.

The Cool Engine Shutdown (CES) works in conjunction with BD`s own digital gauge package, the X Monitor. The CES connects in line between the X Monitor control module and display and also features an audible alarm to coincide with the X Monitor`s visual alarm settings.

Works great so far on my 07 5.9 CTD, no error codes or CEL as of yet. Hopefully this continues to be the case.

It does its job

Love the fact that this turbo timer works well. But the one thing they dont mention for the 03-07 6.0's is that the factory ford program that allows the radio to stay on after you turn the truck off will also stay on with the timer bc it doesnt trigger the door switch to turn the radio off. So when I installed it and walked away, my radio was up loud so i could hear it even though the timer had cycled and shut the truck down. It doesnt go off until the factory timer of like 10 or 15 mins is up. An there is no way of changing that door trigger to trip once the turbo timer has finished. Wish they had said that.

Purchased a couple of years ago, was super easy to install, did it in the garage in about an hour. Great directions, just set it to the desired shut off temp, and it works everytime. The only problem i had was that my remote locks dont work for a lil bit after it shuts off. If i dont try to go back out to it for a couple hours, they work fine... All in all it's a great product, and can save potentially thousands of dollars of damamge to turbo. Highly Recommended!
