BD Diesel Exhaust Brake Turbo Mount DFIV Vac

I was torn between BD and Pacbrake but didn’t want to cut and weld my exhaust on my 2001 Cummins with 4” MBRP straight pipe, so pulled the trigger on BD with shift lever as the truck is 6 speed. I’m pretty happy with how the install went; about 6 hours, most of which was figuring electrical wires with posi taps. Bought this mostly for saving the brake pads and making the truck more fun to drive. I don’t do much hauling so it’s a nice upgrade. Only time will tell how it holds up. Overall pretty satisfied with the purchase.

No mods needed to install. 2 wires through firewall and a switch. I wish all upgrades were this easy. 2001 Ram 5.9L/47RE.

Dodge Ram 2000 didn't fit exhaust down pipe,fitting on vacuum pump were wrong, instruction manual was vage ,poorly written and unclear, thier install video on YouTube just shows how to hook it to the turbo that's it. Now the wiring of this thing is impossible to figure out! I,ve ran an add in CL asking for a Diesel tach to help me install and no one will touch it!Very sad, after three weeks having my truck down, I'm taking it all off and boxing it back up to take to an on line auction, over a $1000 bucks for this and they don't enen bother with a detailed, vehicle specific instruction manual! Pretty much done doing business with XDP if they have knowledgeable staff working for them I haven't talk to them yet.

After reading the other review on here I admit I was a bit skeptical in purchasing this, I did anyways and I'm very impressed with the product especially being vacuum operated, everything seems very well built and rugged, the instructions weren't the best at all, not many pictures and vague but I'm a heavy equipment mechanic so it wasn't too terrible for me but the average joe would definately have a hard time , that lost a star and also they don't give you new bolts for the back of the turbo, mine have never been touched, same as a lot of people and I ended up breaking one, got it out but went to the hardware store and got 5 new metric bolts and never seized them in, other than that, brake works better than expected and at a very low rpm, I'll never own another truck without one!
