ATS Aurora 2000 & 3000 Turbo Systems
|
The Aurora Turbo System is a first in the industry for true performance gains while maintaining low EGT's, designed using the most efficient compressor wheels available. All ATS Aurora turbo chargers utilize the most advanced compressor wheel designs offering high levels of boost pressure while maintaining low compressor discharge temperatures. This allows for a larger volume of higher-density air to enter the engine, providing huge power gains. All of the Aurora turbo kits come standard with a 4-inch exhaust discharge pipe, unlike other aftermarket turbo kits on the market using only a 3.5-inch down pipe. The Aurora 4-inch down pipe allows the turbine to exhaust all of the gas necessary to relieve restrictive back pressure. When looking for extreme performance with unsurpassed reliability, the Aurora turbo kit is the only choice. ATS offers a wide variety of different Turbo Charger kits for the Duramax LB7, LLY and LBZ Engines.
The Aurora 2000 Turbo is a quick response, high pressure ratio turbo system intended for every day driving and heavy towing. When towing extreme loads with the stock turbo charger, there are issues when the turbo can't keep up, causing extreme exhaust gas temperatures. The Aurora 2000 provides the air flow to the engine to ensure reliability while maintaining low EGTs. The Aurora 2000 turbo is famous for its rapid response and incredible mid-range power. Boost pressures of 32 to 38 PSI are average for this turbo, not requiring any internal engine modifications.
All Duramax applications are covered from 2001 to 2006. The 2004.5 and later LLY and LBZ GM Duramax engines were produced with a Garret variable turbo charger that has proven to be a very sluggish and inefficient "emissions regulated" turbo charger. The later variable geometry turbo charger suffers mainly due to its poor turbine design. As exhaust is pushed from the engine to the turbo charger's turbine housing, the exhaust energy is forced to make a 90 degree angle being directed into the turbine section of the turbo charger. This violent 90 Degree redirection of exhaust causes a pressure wave to form in the accelerating exhaust gas exiting the engine creating dangerous unwanted back pressure. High back pressure creates high exhaust gas temperatures! The stock variable Garett turbo design causes approximately 200 Degrees higher exhaust gas temperatures over a conventional turbine housing due to it's inefficient turbine design! The poor factory turbo charger design is the primary reason the 2004.5 and newer Duramax engine struggles with producing reliable power while maintaining reasonable EGTs. The ATS Aurora Turbo system corrects all of these problems and delivers unbelievable performance.
