AIRAID Filter Company has leveled the power playing field between the 7.3L and the newer, more powerful 6.0L with the development of an all-new Cold Air Dam Intake System for the 7.3 liter that allows the engine to breathe deeper, resulting in big horsepower and torque gains.
AIRAID's newest Power Stroke system, p/n 400-222 is available for 1999-2003 7.3-liter Power Stroke equipped Ford F-250s, F-350s and Excursions replaces the restrictive factory air box setup with an AIRAID Cold Air Dam which also incorporates a heavy-duty battery tray, complete with urethane battery pad.
Since the key to quicker throttle response and improved horsepower and torque is air flow, at the heart of the new AIRAID Intake System is a huge AIRAID Premium SynthaFlow™ series filter and specially shaped intake tube that feeds the Power Stroke turbo inlet.

In terms of filtration, all AIRAID SynthaFlow™ Premium Filters are a specially-blended combination of gauze and dry synthetic layers that consistently filter down to two microns, providing superior filtration at no extra cost. AIRAID filters are also hand-poured with urethane, instead of rubber, to prevent cracking and shrinkage in the extreme conditions found under the hood of a turbocharged engine.
On the dyno, the new AIRAID Cold Air Dam Intake System, p/n 400-222 for the 7.3-liter generated an additional 27 horse-power and a whopping 55 lb/ft of torque to the rear wheels at a real-world 1900 rpm, about where most dieseldriving is conducted. The system is a must for Power Stroke owners considering other upgrades such as aprogrammer or chip, and aftermarket exhaust system.
