When vehicle is in reverse, 4 rear bumper sensors send out ultrasonic waves 4 times per second that detect an obstacle behind the vehicle up to 8 feet away. The waterproof controller receives the signal and transmits to the speaker alert.
The speaker with 33 foot calbe sounds long intermittent beeps when an obstacle is within 8 feet of the rear of the vehicle. As the rear of the vehicle moves closer to the obstacle, the beep increases in frequence. Once that distance is 1 foot, the alert becomes a continuous sound.
Power is supplied by tapping into the reverse lights. The system is activated only when the vehicle is on and in reverse.

The product works awesome overall! HOWEVER...it has no built in easy method of turning if off when you trailer...there is a tiny switch on the piezo but i had to solder a switch into the piezo so I could turn it off from the dashboard when I was towing my travel trailer. Every once in a blue moon, if the sensors get dirty, it fritzes out. OVERALL...Good product.
