When vehicle is in reverse, 4 rear bumper sensors send out ultrasonic waves 4 times per second that detect an obstacle behind the vehicle up to 8 feet away. The waterproof controller receives the signal and transmits to the LED display with built-in speaker alert.
The wireless LCD display and speaker with 8’ power cable sounds long intermittent beeps when an obstacle is up to 8’ from the rear of the vehicle and shows in feet the distance to impact as well as on which side of the vehicle the obstacle is located. As the rear of the vehicle moves closer to the obstacle, the beep increases in frequency. Once that distance is 1’ the alert becomes a continuous sound.
Power is supplied by tapping into reverse lights. The system is activated only when vehicle is on and in reverse.
