How often does the vehicle go into regen?
The car will initiate regen once it reaches 22 grams of soot in the trap. This parameter can be displayed with an Edge CTS gauge pack or other scan tool. The regen will continue until the soot load goes below ~5 grams or so and the driving conditions no long promote regen. Regen frequency may increase with aggressive driving and use of higher power tunes. Duramaxtuner adjusts boost, timing and EGR function to minimize soot production on performance tunes. Our testing on the Cruze shows average regen intervals similar to stock.
How long does it take to regen?
Our test cars average about 1 mile per gram of soot. So if the DPF is at 22 grams, and regens down to 5, it generally takes about 15 miles. Of course it'll take longer if the cycle is interrupted.
How quickly does soot accumulate?
It depends on usage. On the highway, it may be 1 gram every 50 miles. Mixed driving might be closer to 30 miles, and of course on the dyno things move a little faster.
How much extra fuel does regen take?
We're talking about a fraction of a gallon per tank on a mechanically healthy vehicle.
Does tuning affect regen frequency?
Of course it does. The tuning, mechanical health of the car, driver attitude, and weather conditions all conspire to affect how quickly the car accumulates soot mass. For our part, the tuning needs to be clean (minimal particulate output) for the regen frequency to be kept in check. We use our experience and high power software to strictly control smoke output as power is increased.
What kind of Mileage can I expect?
Mixed driving can mean many different things to different people. With that said, typical mileage gains in the 2-3 range have been reported during mixed driving. We do not garauntee any mileage gains. We ask that our customers please be aware that colder temps, short trips, and long warm ups will hurt mileage
