PPEs Performance Transmission Cooler is a bolt-on replacement part that lowers the fluid temperatures up to an additional 20 to 30 degrees over the stock unit. Excess heat is the #1 killer of transmissions. For individuals who tow, race or simply run their diesel hard, know that proper cooling of your transmission fluid is one of the most important things that you can do to increase the life of your transmission. When the mainline pressure is increased with things, such as a high performance transmission kit, you end up with additional heat being generated, so we recommend a Performance Transmission Cooler in such applications.

Before removing the factory transmission cooler from your truck check the color of the clips in the fittings that connect the transmission cooler to the cooler lines.

Installed along with fleece lines, instructions were ok except on where the brackets go and how they are mounted. Got it figured out after a bit. Fit great, lower trans temps better than factory so I'm happy with the results.

Overall I think it's a no brainer. You can stack them up side by side and on the LMM, and there is a huge difference. It is a lot wider, a bit taller than stock, and is a tight fit, but that's exactly what you want. PPE makes use of every bit of free space and it sealed just fine for me. The only warning I will give is that on a GMC you can't just pull the grille off so I ended up pulling the bracket the grille is attached to and then reinstalled it after installing the cooler. Nothing crazy, just figured I would give a heads up to other GMC owners. Order # 2063047

The cooler that I will get is the black cooler pictured. I do not want the rectangular cooler. Allison trans cooler
The silver rectangular cooler is for 06-10 duramax trucks. Please select the correct application from the drop-down menu when ordering.
I have been told and read that adding an additional trans cooler could do harm. I have a 2008 3500HD duramax. ? Do I add cooler or not? Is it safe
