The Racor PFF4245R2-04 ParFit Fuel Filter Head Assembly is a direct replacement for your 2001-2004 GM 6.6L Duramax LB7. Over time, the seals in the factory filter head are known to leak causing issues such as hard starting, air leaks, and priming issues. This replacement unit is constructed with durable materials to withstand the stress and rigors or daily driving. Replacing the entire assembly eliminates the hassle of having to rebuild the unit.
Racor is the OEM supplier to GM for this filter and assembly.

The reason I selected this particular product was the fact that you stated that the filter head was OEM, and the filter itself was a Racor filter. I have used Racor filters for a long time with no issues. I did have an issue installing the filter as it is not tapered and the side of the filter was contacting the valve cover on my 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, 6.6, LB7. It appears that a 1/4" or 3/8" shim might be needed to get the proper clearance to install the filter. I did install a WIX filter and have no issues with the hard starting or stalling now. My Order # 1897049.
