Great intake!

This intake is easy to install and performs well. I've been modifying cars for a long time and AEM has been too. I decided to buy this intake because intakes are what AEM does best.
Breathe Easy With This System

I drive OTR a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Quad Cab 4x4, with 270,000 miles todate. I spoke directly with a Cummins rep a few years back about the mpg I could expect with a truck in this configuration. She told me off the bat not to realistically expect any more than 17-19 mpg from this stock configuration. She hit it right on the nose.I've been through two different makes of programmers, one even being an "economy" single setting, and performance filters. Lots of power but no consistent mileage improvement. I asked a truck outfitter I do business with what he would recommend for mileage vs. cost and without hesitation he said "first get your foot out of it, then buy a good air intake system. Let it breath."I shopped around and decided on the AEM system a couple of weeks ago, its a little more expensive but decided on AEM based on a couple of the competitor's bad reviews. The system was easy to install, but before you tighten everything down, unless you have the hands of a 7 year old, you may have to remove the filter element itself to get to all the nuts, bolts, and especially the zip ties, then replace the filter.I made it home last night from a 3500 mile trip with the new AEM system and the "economy" programmer plugged in, hauling 3 different size boats to locations around the southeast, calculated overall loaded/deadhead mileage from home to all points back with 15.5 mpg. My overall is usually 13-14 mpg. I checked my unloaded mileage on the 350 mile stretch down I-85 which was 20.3! Prior to last night, my best was 19.1 two years ago, and never broke 19 mpg again.Sorry I'm longwinded, but wanted to give a realistic expectation. The system gave my Dodge the kick it needed to notch up my mpg, the turbo growls a little more and really whistles a tune for you, and after wipin things down under the hood, the polished aluminum even makes this Dodge look good (IMHO)!By the way, talk to XDP if you have a 2007 Dodge. It WILL FIT a 2007 5.9L Cummins

The install was super easy except for the tree zip ties but if you just wait till the end like one of the other reviews said its not to bad. I gained between 1.5 to 2 mpg's on my 06 dodge 2500. I also noticed faster spooling and better throttle response. I recommend this product to anyone who wants to improve their ride.

Questions and Answers

What the difference between the AEM21-8211D & the AEM21-9211D
View Staff Answer
Answer
The AEM 21-8211D is considered the "AEM Brute Force" and the AEM 21-9211D is considered the "AEM Brute Force HD". AEM has engineered their Brute Force HD intakes to deliver maximum flow, filtration and durability for heavy duty applications and they even outperform the "AEM Brute Force" intakes in both dust holding capacity and filter flow.
