Description

The AFE 50-74006-1 Pro 10R Momentum HD Intake System is designed for your 2011-2016 GM 6.6L Duramax LML using the most up-to-date engineering tools and techniques to provide you with the perfect blend of power and protection. This intake system is premium in every way. From the one-piece sealed  housing with a built in sight window to the massive 1,000cfm air filter to the premium hardware. We spared no expense to give you the best intake on the market.

Unique One-Piece Housing
The smooth one-piece sealed housing with auxiliary air scoop is used to eliminate the use of multiple-piece housings and ensure the coolest air intake charge available. A urethane plug is also included for those cold weather applications where you want to block the auxiliary air scoop. A large, clear sight window is used for a hassle-free filter inspection.

Huge 10-Layer Performance Air Filter
The Momentum HD is designed around a massive 1,000cfm performance 360 degree radial flow air filter with 10-layers of progressive cotton media producing  99.47% cumulative efficiency. The unique air filter to housing interface (patent pending) allows for maximum filter size which increases the available air volume while simplifying the installation process.  The air filter is wrapped in reinforced metal  providing maximum strength to prevent filter collapse.  Filter Dimensions: Flange 7" x 4-3/4, Base/Top 9 x 7" with inverted top, Height 9, Pleat depth 20mm, Number of Pleats 70.

Premium Hardware
Premium stainless steel T-bolt clamps and a 2-ply reinforced silicone hump coupler at the turbo is used for strength and durability while also  providing the most secure installation available. Momentum HD intakes are designed with fewer parts for a quick and simple installation.

Proven Results
After a rigorous design and testing phase, the results are in. The Momentum HD intake system outflowed the factory intake by 52% and produces 22 additional horsepower and 57lbs. x ft. torque.

Pain in *** to change. Doesn't fit correctly
1
2015 duramax application. Doesn't fit in very well. Part of the filter is exposed and not in the cold air box. Major pain in the *** to change the filter. I don't recommend this system.

Questions and Answers

How hard is it to clean the filter?
View Staff Answer
Answer

Very Simple!

Follow the steps below.

1) Use a soft bristle brush like a paint brush to remove large chunks of debris and dirt from between the pleats. GENTLY TAPPING the filter on the ground to remove any loose dirt being careful not to bend any of the pleats.

2) Spray the cleaning solution that comes in our Restore Kit, on the dirty side of the filter. Let the cleaning solution soak in for about 10 minutes.

3) Rinse the filter from the clean side of the filter to the dirty side. Repeat spraying and rinsing until the water is clear. Since media will be stained, it will not be completely white and may still appear dirty.

4) DO NOT USE A HIGH PRESSURE WATER NOZZLE when rinsing the filter.

5) Let the filter air-dry. DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR TO DRY THE FILTER! It may take a couple of hours for a Pro DryS to 12 to 24 hours for a Pro5R depending on humidity and temperature.

6) If you have an oil-free Pro Dry-S filter, the cleaning process is completed and the rest of these instructions can be disregarded.

7) After the filter is dry, apply small amount of oil on the top of each pleat. It is not necessary to apply oil down in between the pleats. It is also a good idea to not apply oil all the way to the urethane. Leave about an inch of media un-colored. DO NOT DROWN THE FILTER WITH OIL! The oil will wick out a great deal.

8) Leave the oiled filter for 8 to 12 hours to allow the oil to fully wick.

9) Spot apply oil to areas that still do not have "color" to it.

Answer

You must disconnect the AFE tube from the filter and pull firmly up on the air box to remove the box from the factory mounting grommets and gain access to the filter.

Cleaning the filter: 1) Use a soft bristle brush like a paint brush to remove large chunks of debris and dirt from between the pleats. GENTLY TAPPING the filter on the ground to remove any loose dirt being careful not to bend any of the pleats. 2) Spray the cleaning solution that comes in our Restore Kit, on the dirty side of the filter. DO NOT DROWN THE FILTER WITH OIL! The oil will wick out a great deal. 8) Leave the oiled filter for 8 to 12 hours to allow the oil to fully wick. Finally, spot apply oil to areas that still do not have "color" to it.
