Wanting to increase my MPG on my 2012 F-250 6.7L truck. (In a very dusty environment) What is the best filter for me? Do I need to get the housing also or is the factory housing good enough?
View Staff Answer

The aFe Stage 2 Si sealed cold air intake produces up to an incredible 21HP and 55lbs. x ft. torque. This intake is fully sealed in a highly engineered rotomolded airbox with two built-in auxiliary air scoops for a maximum air intake charge. The full intake system is a better choice for overall performance. AFE offers three different types of filter media this intake system. There is the (Blue)Pro5R, (Gold)ProGuard7 and (Gray)ProDryS. Without going into details of each media, the basically differences are: 1) Pro5R is 5-layers of progressively finer mesh oiled cotton gauze which offers maximum airflow. This media is ideal for those who drive mostly on paved street and highway who want maximum horsepower. 2) ProGuard7 is 5-layers of progressively finer oiled cotton gauze used in the Pro5R media backed by another 2-layers of finer porosity synthetic non-woven media which offers maximum protection. This media is ideal for those who do a lot of unpaved, off-road driving in severe dusty and dirty environments where protection is more important than maximum horsepower. This media is most popular with compression-ignition diesel truck owners. 3) ProDryS is a 3-layer progressively finer porosity synthetic non-woven media, which is oil-free and offers maximum convenience since it does not require re-oiling. This media is ideal for those who don’t want the hassle of re-oiling a filter.

Customers have claimed fuel economy increases from 1-5 MPG, but AFE will not make claims of fuel improvements beings all vehicles & habits are different.

Increase MPG? I have 2014 F-350 with 6.7. What would be first-third on ways to improve MPG. I haul trailers between states, but also live on a dirt road. - Thanks Big Al
View Staff Answer
Increases in fuel economy can differ between trucks and products installed. A Cold Air Intake is one of the most common and least expensive performance modifications our customers make. Increasing air-flow leads to quicker turbo spool-up, improved fuel mileage and overall horsepower increases. Most customer may claim to gain anywhere from 1-5 MPG depending on the truck and driving habits. The second modification would have to be a Performance Programmer and the third being an Exhaust System.
Will this void my factory warranty?
View Staff Answer
Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)) . For best results, consider working with performance-oriented dealerships with a proven history of working with customers. If your vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emission/warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 or If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or
