861-341 is a SynthaMax (Dry) filter and 860-341 is SynthaFlow (Oiled) filter
(The filter you choose can be based on the information below and personal preference.)
SynthaMax - The SynthaMax filter media consists of an inner and outer layer of wire mesh for durable support of filtration media as well as overall filter durability. This filter construction will not deform or collapse under high air flow. The inner filter media consists of two distinct layers of specifically designed synthetic materials that have separate performance characteristics designed to work together for a combined function of outstanding air flow (low restriction) and exceptionally high filtration. Contaminants are first captured by the outer layer of synthetic needlefelt polyester material designed for wet and dry filtration with high air flow capacity. The inner layer of (wet-laid / chemical bonded) (rayon / polyester) captures any remaining contaminants while maintaining high air flow and low restriction. Each separate layer of these high tech materials are design to work together for the highest level of air flow performance and filtration with exceptional durability.
SynthaFlow - AIRAID® revolutionized the automotive aftermarket in 2002 with the introduction of our SynthaFlow® composite material. This material, which AIRAID® pioneered after exhaustive research and development, remains the standard by which other filters are judged today. Every AIRAID® Premium Filter is built using a combination of precision equipment and the finest materials available along with the attention to detail that only fine hand craftsmanship can provide. We start with multiple layers of cotton gauze and then add our own proprietary blend of synthetic materials, resulting in a superior filtration system that allows plenty of free-flowing air for maximum performance, but not at the cost of letting contaminants through. In fact, all AIRAID® Premium Filters are proven to trap the smallest dirt particles that get past the common cotton-gauze “performance” filters typically found on the market.
