Drill a 1-1/8” hole at the selected location in the fuel tank for the suction tube.
Remove all burrs from the edge of the hole.
Install the grommet in the new suction tube access hole.
Measure and cut the suction tube to a length that will allow approximately 1/8” clearance off the bottom of the tank.
Lubricate the bulkhead fitting with motor oil. Pressing firmly, insert the suction tube assembly into the grommet.
Connect the end of the “Suction Hose Assembly” to the bulk head fitting while it is easily accessible. A “click” will be heard when it is properly installed.
If you’d looking to eliminate the ¼ tank issue, we’d recommend using the XDP Diesel Fuel Tank Sump (XD131). The XDP Fuel Sump is designed to eliminate the typical ¼ tank issues associated with the in-tank draw straws typically used with Air Dog & FASS fuel pumps. Originally designed for better diesel fuel delivery, the XDP Fuel Sump fastens to the bottom of the tank and dramatically increases volume to the fuel pump by allowing you to get every drop of fuel out of the tank.
