FICM’s do not have to be set for the specific VIN of the truck. Not having the vehicle PCM and FICM programmed together may result in a diagnostic code (U0306 – Software incompatibility with FICM). This code will not cause the check engine light to illuminate or any adverse drivability symptoms. This code may only be corrected if the FICM and PCM were to be reprogrammed together by the dealership or someone with the proper programming equipment.
