Description

Upgrade the intake elbow in your 1998.5-2002 Dodge 5.9L Diesel with the Banks Power 42764 Monster-Ram Intake With Boost Tube. This intake was engineered using electronic computational fluid-dynamic technology, tested on the flow bench and dyno, and proven in the real world. The Monster-Ram improves airflow and raises boost without increasing backpressure at the turbine. This gives you enhanced power, flow, and efficiency. This manifold is pre-drilled and tapped so you can easily install a water-methanol injection system, nitrous injection, or a boost gauge. The Monster-Ram Intake directly replaces your factory elbow and enhances flow over the factory intake’s cramped, angular design. This intake is CNC port-matched to the stock heater and is great for use with a grid heater delete spacer. The Banks Monster-Ram is made to outflow the factory elbow by nearly 57%. Includes 3-1/2" mandrel-bent boost tube, intercooler boot, clamps and hardware.

only BANKS for me
ken (bossier city, LA) | July 30th, 2010
I just spent the afternoon taking a competitor's product off my truck because it did not work as claimed and in fact made my vehicle unpleasant to drive. I have several Banks items on my truck and they all have fit perfectly, worked as claimed and have never caused me a minute of dissatisfaction. Trust me when I say I just wasted $400 to learn that I should've stuck with a brand I know and trust. Keep up the good work BANKS.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT!
Moose (CT) | August 3rd, 2010
Getting to the lower clamp on the boost tube is a giant pain, but the 30 or 40 minutes it took for a friend and I to install this kit was WELL WORTH IT. I had an MBRP 4" turbo-back exhaust and an AFE Stage 2 intake before adding this, and what a difference it made! Turbo seems to spool close to 500rpms faster (and makes far more noise, which to me is not objectionable) and holds boost far better at highway speeds. You can seriously HEAR the turbo moving air more easily. I have since added a Quadzilla XZT+ and the truck is an absolute animal compared to stock. THANX BANKS!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the advantage of the monster ram over the high ram? I have a 98.5 dodge cummings 5spd
Can you please tell me if the banks monster ram intake manifold will fit?

AirDog and AirDog II 100 units are recommended for up to 500 horsepower.
AirDog 150 and AirDog II 165 units are recommended for horsepower up to 800.
AirDog II 200 units are recommended for anything that exceeds 1000 horsepower.

What are the differences between and AirDog and AirDog II?
The AirDog II aside from having the adjustable regulator, the pump and base assembly are designed different internally. The pump assembly has a Dual Inlet design allowing more fuel to flow into the Gerotor, this allows the pump to increase volume without having to work any harder. The base on the AirDog II is also much different. Internally the fuel is redirected through passageways after being pressurized, this allows less fuel to be returned to the tank and more fuel to be held in the filters for a true "On Demand" system.[@answer]

The two intake manifolds are extremely similar when it comes to performance, but the Banks Power High-Ram 3 1/2" Intake Manifold 42764 extends that performance one step further by upgrading the boost tube to a larger 3.5” diameter. Larger tubing with the absence of flat spots and sharp curves equals better airflow. Any restriction that reduces pressure also reduces air density. Therefore, smooth large-diameter boost tubes effectively add air density by having less of a pressure drop than the factory boost tubes.

The 2 items will fit all 98-02 5.9L Cummins.

What is the difference between 3" and the 3 1/2" intake for general ranch purpose with this product?

The two intake manifolds are extremely similar when it comes to performance, but the Banks Power High-Ram 3 1/2" Intake Manifold 42764 extends that performance one step further by upgrading the boost tube to a larger 3.5” diameter. Larger tubing with the absence of flat spots and sharp curves equals better airflow. Any restriction that reduces pressure also reduces air density. Therefore, smooth large-diameter boost tubes effectively add air density by having less of a pressure drop than the factory boost tubes. The 3" manifold utilizes your stock 3" boost tube, which is more obstructive on airflow.

Do I have to remove my grid heater for this to fit under the hood?

The Banks Power High-Ram 3 1/2" Intake Manifold 42764 would not require the removal of the Grid Heater. The item will install with the Grid Heater left in place.

In the last picture, what are the arrows pointing to?
1/8" NPT port locations
