Description

The Banks Power Ram-Air Intake System 42210 is designed to feed the engine in your 1999-2003 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke more cool, dense air than it's ever seen. All Ram-Air Intakes have always been about airflow and Banks cold air intakes bolt in place with zero modification. You'll feel the difference the moment you hit the throttle thanks to the added HP and torque. Killing the stock intake and crushing the competition, this intake is the perfect upgrade for anyone looking to maximize their engine’s performance. Whether you haul horses, a fifth wheel, drag race, or compete in sled pulls, this Ram-Air intake is for you!

The Banks Power Ram-Air Intake System 42210 outperforms most competitors with the highest tested increase in intake air density at 4.5%. The enclosed airbox separates the hot engine bay heat and allows fresh access to cold ambient air for great continuous power under load.

Cold Air Intakes Are Supposed To Deliver Cold Air
That should be obvious, right? You can't be certain of this fact when it comes to Banks’ competitors' intakes. They all look good... but do they actually deliver cooler air to your engine and bring the power & mileage gains you were sure you were paying for? Not according to Banks testing.

Your engine doesn't need eye candy, it needs more air density. The sad truth is that most competitive "cold air" intake system Banks tested provided hotter intake air temps than the factory system. They all flowed slightly better but without cooler air, it can end up being a wash.  Cool air equals more air density, and more air density equates to more HP & torque, helping improve fuel economy, and overall better performance. This Banks Power Ram-Air Intake System real deal. You're out for the utmost performance and so is Banks Power. The Banks Ram-Air Intake System brings the air density as well as the airflow. Best of all, this cold air intake delivers what your hard-earned dollar deserves, real engineering, performance, and genuine value.

it works good for stock trucks

I have everything that banks offers, under my hood. no tuners. The air filter did fall off a few times. this is caused by the air filter free standing inside of the air box only supported by the hose clamp and tube. I installed a 1/2 thick piece of rubber for the end of the air filter to rest on. I no longer have the issue of the air filter falling off. I drive on asphalt and gravel roads daily. This intake system worked fine until i added my 38r turbo. My old turbo was a stock (38) modified with a Banks wicked wheel with big head wast gate and an ats ported intake housing. As soon as I installed my 38r turbo I noticed massive air restriction, so I removed my banks ram air lid/top to allow for more air. After removing the lid I have noticed a better air volume (yes now its pulling more hot engine air, thats for another discussion) . the end results will be me removing the system for another larger air cfm system. I have had it for many years and was always happy with it (once i installed the 1/2 rubber piece to keep the air filter from falling off) works great for a stock turbo system.

First let me thank you and BANKS POWER for the RAM AIR system I purchased for my diesel. I finally had the time to install it last Saturday. The installation went well and was easy to do. I noticed a big difference right away when I started my truck. smoother / quicker acceleration plus virtually no smoke. I had to go on a long trip the following day and did notice better mileage. All of BANKS claims were true and installation was simple and easy. I am very happy and impressed.Thank you and thanks BANKS POWER.
Worst intake ever!!

I purchased this intake when it first came out and the first one I recieved the lid mount holes did not align and after 1 week of driving the air filter fell off. 3 intakes later I finally recieved one where the lid would align properly. Drove for approx 1 month and removed the lid to check the filter and it had again popped off. I had been driving for who knows how long with no filter causing possible engine damage. I am currently running approx $2000.00 in banks products and its unfortunate however no matter how hard they try they cant seem to get this intake right. I had to remove it and send it back. 4 intake later I am recieving a full refund from banks. If you own this intake check and make sure your air filter is still attached! If your thinking of buying it DONT!!

Questions and Answers

Is this intake loud in the cab? I have a k&n cold air kit and it resonates loud in cab towing on interstate.

Answer

The Banks Power Ram-Air Intake System 42210 tends to be quieter because of the fact it has the cover over the filter. This cover resonates some of the audible turbo noise you would often get from a non-covered intake.
