Get the Banks Power 24329 BigHead Wastegate Actuator from XDP and replace the malfunctioning wastegate in your 1999-2002 Dodge 5.9L Diesel. Under high-boost circumstances, the factory actuator's weak spring allows the wastegate to blow open, restricting midrange torque. This Banks wastegate solves this problem by replacing the stock boost actuator. BigHead keeps the wastegate closed for quicker boost, then controls the opening to maintain peak boost for superior acceleration and mid-range pulling power. Banks BigHead wastegate actuator avoids wastegate blow-open by keeping the valve seated at higher pressures, improving mid-range torque and top-end power.

not a bad wastegate it makes the blow off not as loud as the stock one but when you tow you can really hear the turbo spool up its real nice to hearThanks XDP

Answer
Wastegates provide a means to bypass exhaust flow from the turbine wheel. Bypassing this energy reduces the power driving the turbine wheel to match the power required for a given boost level. Internal Wastegates are built into the turbine housing and consist of a “flapper” valve, crank arm, rod end, and pneumatic actuator. A high-performance actuator will keep the valve seated longer to achieve higher boost levels throughout the powerband, a higher overall peak boost level, quicker spool-up and increased torque.
