The BD-Power 1031369 Exhaust Brake & Tap Shifter for your 2003-2007 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke is an excellent upgrade to help the functionality of your truck. While your Ford Super Duty has a 5-speed transmission, it doesn't offer you a complete range of gear selections. You only get P-R-N-D-3-2-1. The BD-Power TapShifter allows you to gain full control of the transmission in your truck with the supplied components. Using a high quality Ford OE shift lever, the BD-Power Tap Shifter kit enables you to control your transmission with just the push of a button.
Not only does the Tap Shifter give you full function of your transmission, it also includes a built-in electronic Variable Vane Exhaust Brake. The variable vane design used in modern diesels reduces turbo lag, emissions, and increases power. It can also be used to slow you down. BD-Power uses the variable vane technology by electronically closing off the turbine vanes which creates retarding horsepower. This braking force will help to maintain your speeds on descents and curves, giving you better control of your truck and load.

4 stars only because the adapter that connects the new shifter was machined slightly wrong, I was able to make it work but it was a slight inconvenience. Installation was fairly easy, the shop wanted $500 to install so I decided to do it, everything was very straight forward I recommend downloading the instructions off XDP's website so that you can see the colors in the pages(the book they send is black and white). Besides the adapter being wrong Im very happy with my purchase shipping was fast. The exhaust brake works wonderful and sounds even better on my '04 F350 with a 4" turbo back straight pipe, I can exit the freeway and use the exhaust brake all the way down to about 30mph without using the foot break. Im sure the break will be even better when im towing and/or in the mountains. Highly recommend this product you will not be disappointed.

Does this work with the remote mounted exhaust brake system?

No, the two brakes cannot be used together. (You can cut the looped wire on the Variable Vane Exhaust Brake module to deactivate the brake feature or deactivate the remote mounted brake.)
The BD-Power 1031369 Exhaust Brake & Tap Shifter can be used with tuners.

Not at all – OPERATION: Shift the vehicle into drive (D). Press the down ‘-‘ button on the shift lever. The BD display will now light up with the current gear the vehicle is in. The driver can now press up ‘+’ and down ‘-‘ to increase and decrease the maximum gear.
The truck will now shift automatically through the gears, stopping at the selected gear. This works just like most late model vehicles.
To disable the TapShifter, just press the ‘+’ button until the display turns off. Otherwise the TapShifter system will automatically turn off any time the shift lever is moved out of the drive position.
Will this work with the torq shift trans in my 6.0L?
