Stock oil coolers can become restricted or blocked over time due to residual casting sand and sediment circulating through the cooling system. As restriction increases, coolant flow through the oil cooler decreases, which can lead to elevated engine oil temperatures and reduced coolant flow to the EGR cooler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the oil cooler is no longer operating efficiently, it can contribute to EGR cooler failure and increased stress on the fuel injectors. If left unaddressed, these issues can eventually lead to serious engine damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most common warning signs of a restricted oil cooler is an increasing difference between engine oil temperature (EOT) and engine coolant temperature (ECT).<sup>1<\/sup> On a healthy 6.0L Powerstroke, this difference is typically less than 15\u00b0F at operating temperature.
