Description
The Colt Cams Bolt-On Cam Gear Retainer is designed to keep the camshaft gear from walking off the crankshaft. This is a must have upgrade for any 12V and 24V Diesel. The Cam Gear Retainer can also be used on the 03+ Common Rail engine but is not required. If used on the Common Rail, the front cover must be modified for additional clearance.

I upgraded my camshaft to a Colt Cams stage 3 “big stick” camshaft. Bought this to keep my cam gear in place. While the cam gear fits pretty tight on there, I wouldn’t trust not having a retainer to keep it tightly in place.
