It depends on the build date of the truck. 2003-2004 are before 9/29/03 (Anything after this date is an 04.5 -07)

You can usually go off of which EGR Tube you have to determine if you have an early 2004 or a 2004.5 truck. If you have an round EGR Cooler, than you have an early 2004 truck. If you have a square EGR Cooler, you have a 2004.5 truck.
