The BD-Power 1031300 AutoLoc Lockup Controller for your 2003-2007 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke is designed to increase fluid pressures to help prevent slippage and maintain positive clutch contact. If your torque converter isnt locked up on decel or when the exhaust brake is applied(if equipped), youre only benefiting from a fraction of its retarding power. The BD Auto/PressureLoc commands the torque converter to lock up, and stay locked up, any time the exhaust brake is applied in third and fourth gears.
This not only helps with engine braking, but because theres no clutch slippage, transmission oil temperatures remain low. The lock-up clutch and exhaust brake automatically disengage at low speeds to prevent stalling and transmission/converter damage.

The Empire Performance EPE-5R110S Modified Direct Clutch Solenoid for your 03-10 Ford 6.0L/6.4L Powerstroke was designed to deliver a solid solution. The 5R110 TorqShift transmission is one of the most robust transmissions ever offered in a medium duty pickup. It does however have a weakness. The 5R110 transmission is controlled through the use of solenoids to turn on and off gears. A gear is commanded by the computer and a solenoid applies fluid directly to that clutch. In stock power applications the stock solenoid is fine. Outside of that range, the factory piece cannot provide enough fluid to the clutch fast enough to get the clutches together in a short enough time. Long term slipping of the clutch leads to failure. Direct clutch is not only used for 5th gear in the transmission, but it is also used when in reverse as well.
