To explain why the Hot-Side Intercooler pipe is a crucial piece of equipment, let's first start with the issues with the factory hotside intercooler tube. The factory Hot Side Pipe doesn't work the best, now don't get us wrong it works. However, it can be better and that's exactly what HSP Diesel did. The angles of the factory pipe are not conducive to a flow that minimizes turbulence, it also has connections that don't always hold under even normal conditions, and let's be honest the raw factory look just isn't the best look for under the hood.
To start, the HSP Hot Side Intercooler Pipe is made from a 3" mandrel-bent tube. The reason they did this is to increase the flow but also because they were able to make sweeping style bends. The sweeping style bends allow the air to flow more freely (up to 40%) and as we all know the less turbulence you have in the air flowing through the tube the more power you can make and the safer you can make that power. Another thing that HSP Diesel has done that has made a massive difference over the stock pipe is they took the prone to fail factory lower intercooler boot and made a straight style connection to the intercooler, this removes the possibility of an issue with the silicone boot and removes a failure point giving you more reliability and peace of mind. With all of those changes you also get a few add-ons that happen, such as a difference in engine and turbo sounds. You get a crisper more distinct tone with the Hot Side Intercooler Pipe installed.
