Great product

I have a 2001 Duramax that I used my programmer on. The unit I have gave me a 96 hp increase and 125 ft lb of torque. Besides a very noticeable boost in horsepower and towing capacity I now can get as much as 22 mpg on the highway unloaded. From a one ton dually crew cab, I'm not complaining about that. I can average 12 to 13 mpg pulling a thirteen thousand pound 34 foot fifth wheel trailer. Very happy.
NOT FOR 2011 and up

I bought this for my 2011 LML. Bad idea, decrease in boost, decrease in TQ, They don't even have up to date dyno for the LML. This product is a lie for the LML. Got all kinds of codes from the check engine light.
Hypertech Max Energy

The power levels are very noticeable on my 06 chevy duramax LBZ, I am still testing for fuel economy, but have seen some improvement on my computer read out in the dash. I got a very good deal on this unit hypertech had a promo and upgraded me from the economy model plus with XDP promo I really made out well. Just a note about hypertech, my expierance with customer service was a good one, and for anyone who doesent know they invented the programer and where one of the first ones on the market,It dosent have all the glitz and bells and whistles, but it is solid.I tried 1 other programer from D***blo, and this one is way more stable with there programs, like I said they invented it, I think they know what they are doing. I have the powerprogrammer 3 and believe this is the same unit, or an updated version of it. Anyway, I can say that for a 2003 Duramax this is the one to buy, Hypertech guarantees no transmission problems and that you can tow on the top stage at your factory's maximum specified load without any problem. ONLY chip that can do that on the market, pretty good if you ask me. Stage one, noticable power, not alot, just a little, fuel economy seemed to go down a little, -.5 to -1mpg. Stage two good power gain, fuel economy went up from an average of 16.8/17ish to about 17.5 with a mix of city and highway. Stage 3 :) Thats the one it will stay on! LOTS of power, tons, very substantial gain all the way through, whether it is conservative driving or gunning it, more responsive, shifts way smooother, pulls hard till top speed, a little more turbo whistle, and best fuel economy gains of all three stages from about 16.8/17ish when stock to 17.7, not a big gain, but considering it comes with a 90 horse 200+ torque boost, way worth it. Also computer is not accurate, but is more accurate on all three stages of tuning when estimating fuel economy than it is stock so just another little bonus, you need to check when you fill up always but its more reliable with this unit. Oh and, if you are going all freeway, I set the cruise at 70 and without a load get 21mpg! Towing a 4place trailer with 4 4wheelers at 70 I recieve 16.5, Not too shabby. I am a conservative driver who watches the fuel economy on the dash like a hawk, but on stage 3 you still get thrills out of feeling the power gains EVEN when you drive carefully like I do. Worth mentioning twice is that it shifts SOOO Smooth on the top stage. 5 minutes to program once you know what to do, I have two relatives with the same programmer on Duramax's, another is an 03 and one an 05, after a few years now, neither have had any problems of any kind.
Big Difference

I pull a 40' fifth wheel toy hauler with a gross truck and trailer weight of 25,000# and in Mar pulled it to Florida. While down there I purchased the Hypertech Programmer. I immediately programmed my '06 gmc 2500hd in stage 3 and could not believe the difference. The truck felt like a rocket and when driven normal actually gained fuel mileage. I then turned it down to stage 2 for the 1700 mile pull home. The truck never chocked on any hill climb all the way home and I went from 9 to 10ml/gal. It doesn't sound like much but I am an aggressive driver, I am sure if I would back down 5 miles/hr I would gain 2-5 ml/gal. I must say that I am not disappointed at all. The only other mod. to the truck is a k&n air filter kit.
