MBRP's 5 Quiet Tone muffler features a high flow 5 spiral louvered core, fits most 5 exhaust systems and is a direct replacement for all MBRP 5" performance mufflers. With over triple the sound cancelling packing it eliminates drone under load or towing conditions and delivers up to a 10% dB noise reduction compared to our regular performance muffler.

Truck had 5” pipe with short cones on it. Way to loud. Put the quiet tone on in front of little one. Muffler slipped right on used couple five inch clamps added one pipe hanger. Sounds great. Can now talk to passenger. Mpg shows the same.

2006 Dodge 5.9 Cummins quad cab long box with PPEI EFI Live, S&B cold air intake, and 5" MBRP turbo back with 7" tip. Put this muffler in place of the muffler delete pipe. quieted it down, some of the cab drone is gone but still pretty bad. Hard to talk on the phone under load up hill. People Complained about how loud and blamed bad driving.The truck was pretty loud with a 5" mbrp exhaust with performance muffler.it is a f-250 2006 6.0 ext cab long bed, with sct cutom tuned 180hp with FICM tuned. and i have a wicked wheel g2 in it.I added the new muffler after the old one i moved forward. now the truck is very quite with very good air flow, it is slightly louder then stock. defiantly not making anyone mad now.Very hard to take old pipes apart after being on a year. i had to cut them and heat them up and bend them up.I do wish i could buy the whole system with the quiet tone muffle instead of the performance.

Answer
The muffler on the single diesel exhaust systems should be installed to allow the exhaust gasses to flow smoothly over the louvers on the muffler core. If the muffler is installed so that the louvers catch the exhaust gases it will increase resonance levels inside the vehicle.
