Description

The Mean Green Gear Reduction Starter is the answer to all of your starter problems as it provides 100% more torque than an overweight stock starter. With a 4.4 to 1 gear reduction, roller bearing support, and an integrated solenoid, the Mean Green Starter can crank any engine no matter how high its static compression. The Mean Green Starter's 3" tool steel driveshaft is supported at both ends by bearings. The stainless steel pinion shaft is externally splined to mate with the larger diameter, internally splined driveshaft. Even the armature in the high-speed motor is supported at each end with bearings. All totaled, there are five bearings in the motor and gear assembly. That's one reason we include a 2-year Warranty at no charge on every starter, (Commercial and Racing applications carry a 1-year warranty). Another is the heat resistant, integrated solenoid which continues to operate even at extreme temperatures.

Features:
  • Superior Design
  • Easy Installation
  • No Core Required
  • 100% More Cranking Power
  • 300,000 Mile Life Expectancy
  • No More Hot Start Problems
  • 2 Year Unconditional Guarantee

Poor quality and even worse customer service.
Brad | October 1st, 2023
Purchased a Mean Green starter in 2020. It failed after 1.5 years and was still under 2 year warranty. Mean Green made me purchase a new one and was told they would reimburse me once they received the return. Took them 5 months to refund. Now the replacement starter failed after 1.5 years. Contacted Mean Green and told me the replacement starter is not covered under warranty. Said i could return it and they will let me know how much it would cost to fix. Unreliable starters and even worse customer service. The warranty person hung up on me when I questioned him on not standing behind their poor quality products.

Mean Green has terribe customer service
JDSevier (Newbury Park) | February 1st, 2022
Bought this starter from XDP, excellent customer service but they had me work directly with Mean Green for the warranty. Buyer has to pay for return to Mean Green for warranty. No response from Mean Green, sent emails and left voicemails for 3 months. XDP did intervene to get Mean Green to call me. I had to have XDP do this twice. Once to get an RMA then again to get the replacement unit. The whole process took 6 months. Will never buy a Mean Green product again. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE PURCHASING! Order 1789983 6/27/21

greasy dude (CA) | January 2nd, 2021
this starter worked great for 2 mos. then on a warm day the bendix failed . The plunger pushed through the end . I was stranded at the post office. walked to parts store and replaced with cheap over the counter unit. that was about 6 mos. ago. the company does not return calls or emails. i want to return my unit but can not get a return authorization.

I see all the hype about this starter. It was about 20* outside and the thing turned over harder than i anticipated. Fantastic. But i bought this starter for the upcoming cold spell we had recieved in Wisconsin. In -30* temperatures, it seems to have failed me. Bench tested the starter and it was not working properly. I put the original starter back on the 7.3 and it started right up. Not impressed with the MG starter. Ill be buying OEM from here on out. Perhaps ill give them another shot on future summer-only projects.
