I saw great reviews for the Mean Green alternators for my 02 F250 7.3L diesel. Two days after installation there was a bad electrical smell. Figured it was just varnish on the coils. Smell never went away and coils are now crusty black. Several attempts to get a return call from manufacturer have failed! Warranty may claim to be several years and 300 miles, but good luck when you need to return it!

Xdp was fine but I had got my alternator and after 3 days of having it installed I started smelling burning glue. The alternator was getting hot and melting the glue on the winding. Then also started to charge less and less. So I called xdp and they sent me to mean green warranty. First time calling went to voice mail and it was full and would not except any messages. I called the next day and was asked to send pictures through e-mail. I did and waited a day and hurd nothing back so I tried calling and emailed and after 2days of nothing back I called xdp and walla a few hours later mean green called me. Said it was all because of weather they couldn't get back to me. So I sent it in to get fixed or replaced on the 2/23/15 the received it 2/25/15 and as of 3/5/15 I emails them how I'm not happy with them and so forth. 3/6/15 I head nothing so I tryes to call notheing voicemail still full. I got an alert from upset and they just sent it back to me. Mean green has crappy customer service and are slow to getting you back on The road. Will not purchase another product from mean green.
