2003 LB7. I switched the tune after having it for months and now my truck will not start. The only improvement from the bullydog programmer I also have, is the shifting was smother. When I called PPE the service was of no help and said I was out of luck. They told me the code that was on the programmer ment nothing to them ( PPE code) and offered no solution or help. Now I have a 18000 dollar paper weight in my driveway and walk everywhere. I have a bully dog and wanted a PPE, big mistake. The bullydog never left me without a truck. I have only had diesel trucks for 16 years and this is the first time I have had a programming issue.
Pretty Pleased

It did wake up my Ole duramax lly. Pretty pleased the way it's running now. Haven't pulled a load yet.

Very Impressed!

I was on the fence about which tuner to get for my LBZ dually. The idea of being able to change power settings without having to reprogram every time sounded cool, but I decided to go with the PPE Excelerator instead. The instructions were very straight forward and I had no issues installing the level 2 tune. It really woke the truck up. I'll probably try level 3 and see how it reacts, but I think level 4 would be insane on a stock transmission. I did not have to pull any fuses, but I took the truck for a drive first to make sure the batteries were fully charged and warmed up. Shipping was fast! Order #1416099

Questions and Answers

What is the highest stage I can go to on a stock 2003 Duramax? I am currently on stage 2. I currently own this programmer and it is set on stage two. I am a new owner of this truck with 128k miles. I am running it with stock exhaust only addition is the programmer. I will be pulling trailers, heavy trailors.

An EGT (exhaust gas temperature) probe is recommended for all applications with performance modifications such as this. EGT is an indication of how hot the combustion process is in the cylinders. EGT is also directly related to the air/fuel ratio. The richer the air/fuel ratio in a diesel, the higher the EGT will be. Most stock applications running the PPE Xcelerator Standard Power Programmer 1110200 stay below level 3 for daily use. (It’s best to invest in some type of gauges to monitor the vehicles parameters.) Towing may lead to higher EGT’s so the level best for towing will be determined by the size of the load. The heavier the load, the lower the level you’ll want to run.

*PPE rates at their horsepower levels at the crank shaft, not the wheels.

Actually there is no “best programmer” for any truck. Choosing the right programmer is based on what you are using the truck for and what your main objective is with it. Now there are some units that are better than others based on what you are looking for, but the first step is deciding what you want out of your truck. Mostly all programmers will yield some type of fuel enhancements. Give us a call at 1-888-DIESEL-4 and together we can work on finding the best programmer for your truck.

Will my transmission slip?

Answer
The PPE Xcelerator programmer “should” eliminate the EGR code, but PPE will no longer give a direct answer on this. (They have always cleared the codes in the past.) The Duramax Tuners EFI Live will definitely eliminate your EGR code.

This all depends on your driving characteristics. The stock transmission naturally has it’s weak points and may slip under hard acceleration on higher HP settings.
