Description
The PSC SG852K3 Big Bore XD Steering Box replaces the weak factory steering box that's known to fail on your 1998-2002 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 with an extreme duty unit. The second generation 2500 & 3500 trucks experience lower sector shaft bearing and seal failure due to the small 32mm bearing that cannot handle lateral pressure. PSC addresses all these issues with their XD steering box which features a 45mm bearing and sector shaft which eliminates any side-to-side flex, an 85mm piston for increased turning force, and a16:1 steering ratio for effortless maneuvering.

Notes:
Will not fit with aftermarket steering box braces.
This kit fits 1998-2002 models with T-type steering only. Verify your steering before ordering.
Installation Notes:
This steering box requires modification of your stock tie rod.
Due to the increased overall size of the BIG BORE XD steering box, spacers are included in the kit to space the steering box off the frame. There is a 1" difference from the OEM steering gear.

Installation time was just at 1 1/2 hours for this swap on the rack for 02 Dodge 2500 Ram Cummins steering gear box. I was a little worried about this PSC aftermarket gear box but it was everything they said and after 1 month it's performing to my satisfaction with no problems pulling trailers. This kit did come with the shorter tie rod end which helped on install, Did not need a aftermarket stabilizer bracket, Did not have to box up old gear box and send it back for core exchange. I guess I'm good to go!

32k miles later, still as tight as new. Dodge should've put them in from the beginning!

This thing is massive compared to the stock gearbox. Everything bolted right up and fit perfect. Steering is tight like a 4th gen now, no more wandering at all. More than enough assist to turn my 315s on dry pavement. I did have to use a sway bar drop kit on my truck to clear the new box. That may be because my truck originally came with the "Y" type steering and I upgraded to the newer HD "T" style I am not sure.
