Description

The Titan 7010201 52 Gallon Mid-Ship Replacement Fuel Tank for your 2001-2010 GM 2500/3500 6.6L Duramax Crew Cab, Short Bed provides you with additional fuel capacity for peace of mind whether driving down the highway or through remote rural areas. The increased capacity also gives you the ability to shop for lower fuel prices without having to fill-up every time you pass a fuel station.

Most stock (or original equipment) tanks are relatively thin and made of materials like Linear Polyethylene. TITAN Fuel Tanks are made of corrosion-proof, High-Density Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLHDPE), which is bonded molecularly. Also, the nominal thickness of all TITAN Tanks is ÂĽ of an inch.

TITAN Fuel Tanks utilize common sense design features, which simplify installation. They reuse most of the stock components, including the existing sending unit. The tank itself is nearly indestructible, but light enough to be hefted by one or two people. While a vehicle hoist and transmission jack are ideal, hand tools will get the job done. Lifetime warranty on tank body.

Features:
  • 52 Gallon Fuel Capacity
  • Fits Crew Cab, Short Bed Models
  • 26 Gallons Increased Capacity Over Stock
  • Installs In Same Location As Factory Fuel Tank
  • Shield Available Separately For Off-Highway Protection (see below)

Notes:
LB7 Adapter Kit is REQUIRED to install a Titan Fuel Tank on 2001-2004 models (see below).

Nice upgrade

Nice to have the extra capacity. I'm still on my first tank of diesel, so far the gauge works fine except RTE. I do recommend go ahead and remove the drive line before install. I didn't and it was a pain in the butt to get the supporting frame installed. As others have commented, I'm leary of the lightweight mount. Doesn't seem as heavy duty as the OEM supporting straps/frame. Titan did take advantage of all possible space underneath, and that did make it tougher to get into place. Note: of installing a lift pump at the same time, you will have to mount the pump forward of the tank and outside wall of the truck chassis frame. Then you'll need a some extra fuel line to reach.
04 Silverado crew short bed 52 gal tank

First time fill up took all 52 gal. Fast forward 6 months Truck stalled just as I pulled in to get fuel could only get 46 gals in it. That tells me I can’t get the last 6 gals outta of it.
2 years and still working except fuel gauge inaccurate

with 25 gallons of fuel 1/2 full parked down hill parked and the empty light comes on and the gauge reads 0.conversely reads hight when parked up hill and there after for 10 min or so. Best way to monitor is milage. hastlethe vent bleeds out vapor a little under the truck at its highest point and makes it dirty under the truck somewhat.I find the mounting poor. too big a space between the back and front mount allowing potential movement flexing weakness where tank is small in the middle. Its been ok for 2 years but my 40 years as a mechanic tells me there mightl be structural failure at some time in the middle of the tank. OK nowI love having 50 gallons so I don't have to fuel with the trailer on.

Questions and Answers

If a larger tank is installed, is there a way for my computer to recognize so miles to empty will be accurate? Is my computer still going to work so I know how many miles to empty?

Answer

Depending on the application the tank size can be recalibrated by a local dealer or using EFI Live. Call Titan Fuel Tanks for details on this.
