Description

Improve the clutch inside your 1994-2003 Dodge 5.9L Diesel 5-Speed with the Valair 13" Upgrade Clutch NMU70279-04-5SCE. The Upgrade Clutch utilizes ceramic buttons on both sides of the clutch disc and are aimed at the performance trucks. Driving manners are very performance oriented with no clutch slip, basically the clutch is in, or it is out. Great holding capacity for modified trucks, the only way you will get more holding power is to go to a Dual Disc Clutch setup. Ceramic is a very hard material so typically flywheel wear is more noticeable using a ceramic clutch than with other materials. This clutch has a small window of usage, ideally suited to trucks with performance power modifications that do not intend to tow with there truck. (Not recommended for towing) For use on 5-Speed NV4500 Transmission.

Great clutch! I was honestly debating on getting this or the organic one but finally pulled the trigger on this one and I’m glad I did. So for me it has a very smooth engagement as nice as stock as strange as that sounds. It holds the power extremely well with no issues or slipping. I had a valair organic 550hp dual disc before this and was very disappointed it didn’t last very long at all and had the in and out engagement they talk about ware this one does not. Either way I would recommend and buy again.

It is a nice well built clutch I don’t like the fact that it’s a on off switch so now I’m learning how to re drive a clutch basically. there is almost zero way to slip this clutch so that’s good overall. I’d buy it again

Great holding capacity for modified trucks, the only way you will get more holding power is to go to a Dual Disc Clutch setup. Ceramic is a very hard material so typically flywheel wear is more noticeable using a ceramic clutch than with other materials. This clutch has a small window of usage, ideally suited to trucks with performance power modifications that do not intend to tow with there truck. (Towing with a clutch such as this could be difficult and frustrating)

If you’re looking to tow with the truck, but you need something to hold 550HP then you’d want an Organic Street Dual Disc. This clutch is ideal for trucks from stock to 550HP that tow heavy on a regular basis. Clutch engagement will be very close to stock feel.

Does this clutch require the bigger input shaft or will it accept stock size?

The VALAIR 13" UPGRADE CLUTCH NMU70279-04-5SCE is designed to work with the factory sized input shaft on the NV4500 transmission.

If I don’t upgrade my hydraulics will I be able to disengage the clutch or are upgraded hydraulics needed?

Yes, the Valair 13" Upgrade Clutch NMU70279-04-5SCE will work with stock hydraulics but it is recommended you replace them when installing a clutch.
