The Walker 214-91026 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor from XDP is a great solution to replace the sensors in your 1994-2000 GM 6.5L Diesel. A coolant temperature (ECT) sensor is used by the PCM to monitor the engine's coolant temperature. The PCM determines the changes required to the engine's timing and fuel calculations for peak performance. The ECT sensor is most often located close to the thermostat of the cooling system or inside of it. The cooling system is located beneath the air intake pipe and behind the right cylinder. Temperature sensors fail due to simple wear and tear. The sensor connector and wiring harness can lose connectivity over time. Exposure to excessive moisture can erode the sensor internally, causing erratic readings. The repetition of extreme heat and cold, known as "heat cycling", breaks down internal circuitry in the sensor but also deteriorates the connector and harness. Other contaminants such as oil and road debris also lead to connector and harness failures.
