Replace the failed manifold absolute pressure sensor in your 1999-2002 VW 1.9L TDI with a Walker 225-1213 Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor from XDP. The MAP sensor measures the manifold pressure/vacuum entering the engine's intake and reports the information to the vehicle's computer. The computer uses this information to calculate the amount of air coming in, the exhaust that will be leaving, the amount of fuel needed, and other factors that help the vehicle run efficiently. Newer turbocharged engines commonly have more than one MAP sensor to monitor intake pressures.
Manifold absolute pressure sensors can fail over time as the sensor or hoses can get clogged by contaminants. The repetition of extreme heat and cold, known as "heat cycling", also breaks down internal circuitry. Issues typically arise from high mileage and/or poor maintenance along with faulty wiring or damaged connectors. Normally your vehicle's check engine light will illuminate on your dash telling you there is a code in the computer that you need to read by a repair shop. You can also tell if your vehicle symptoms such as poor acceleration, engine ping or misfire, bad fuel economy, car surges or dies, or your vehicle won't start at all. Walker Products MAP sensors are 100% programmed and tested. Walker Products works continuously to stay current on all OE design changes, TSBs, and improvements to the OE design to make the best part for your vehicle.
