Description

The XDP HD Replacement Up-Pipe Assembly XD218 is a direct-fit replacement for the leaking up-pipes in your 2003-2007 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke. The up-pipes in your Super Duty take the exhaust gasses from the exhaust manifolds and bring them up to spool the turbocharger. Due to the location and the type of bellows used on the stock up-pipes, they are often prone to failure. A failed bellow is a common cause of exhaust leaks. These power-robbing exhaust leaks reduce the effectiveness of the turbo, which results in a loss of engine performance, efficiency, and vehicle drivability.

This 6.0 Up-Pipe Assembly is a bolt-on, OER+ design and installs using the factory gasket, fasteners, and clamps (not included). Each unit is built from stainless steel with heavy-duty bellows to provide durability and long service life in your F-250/350/450.

Good fit but had trouble.

First thing, I asked a question if this comes with hardware. The reply was Yes it comes with new hardware. Well, it didn't but that is ok as my bolts didn't break. It also does not have heat shields attached like the stock one, which I was concerned about because I have the 1'st gen 6.0 with the sensors directly under the turbo. To solve this problem I bought some heat wrap, 2 inch by 15 foot. It was kind of difficult to wrap because it was so shiny AND I was sad to cover up the pretty metal. I have driven it in the heat (103deg) and I could not see any issues. No melted wires or plugs. The trouble I had was with installation. At first, I installed the pipe and tightened all the bolts. When I went to install the turbo, I quickly realized the pipe flange was angled downward too far. It was a bear trying to get that turbo in. What I ended up doing was loosening all the bolts just enough to get some play and was able to get the turbo bolted in and clamped down. This is where the no heat shields actually turned into a blessing. I was able to get at those up pipe bolts fairly easily. Overall, only took me a day to tear down and rebuild and drive around. The turbo spools up quicker I think. It use to not spool until a few seconds after depressing the accelerator but now it is instant. Nice!

Purchased up-pipe for 2006 ford 6.0. Appeared to be high quality material and construction. Aligned fairly well with other components and installation was relatively easy.

Answer
The tile says "Up-Pipe Assembly" which is often reffered to as a "Y Pipe" as well as a "Turbo Inlet Pipe". The XD218 is the replacement of the Ford OEM 5C3Z-6K854-BA. You will reuse your factory passenger side up-pipe.
