Description
Use the ARP Head Stud Kit 204-4706 when rebuilding your 1982-2002 Volkswagen 1.6L & 1.9L Diesel engine. Included in this kit are ten ARP2000 head studs, ten parallel ground washers, ten 8740 chrome-moly steel 12 pt nuts, and a 1/2 oz. pack of ARP Ultra-Torque fastener assembly lubricant. All Pro Series ARP2000 studs undergo centerless grinding, heat treatment prior to thread rolling and machining, and are nominally rated at 220,000 psi. These fasteners boast a 45% increase in tensile strength over the OEM Torque To Yield (TTY) head bolts.

Had my Head machined and new head gasket 35k miles ago. Lifted the head and started pushing coolant out of the expansion tank. Replace Head bolts with ARP studs with or removing head. No longer pushing coolant out after 1500 miles.

Before boosting through turbo or tune or both this is a must as higher mileage 1.9L is know for head lift under boost pressuring coolant tank. Did turbo upgrade with tune was fine until bigger injection pump from auto pushed my factory head stretch bolts pass the limit this kit solved my problem only 1.5hr labor to install. The weight of the factory 10 bolts is not even 1/3rd the weight of ARP and after inspecting had 4 untrue stressed factory bolts 150,000miles on them.
