Description
Constructed with 100% polyurethane on top and bottom, this high flow oil-free replacement performance air filter will outflow stock paper filter for improved horsepower and torque. Two layers of progressively finer mesh synthetic media provide maximum convenience and easy maintenance. Washable and reusable for multiple cleaning cycles, the tall open evenly spaced pleats provide excellent dust holding capacity for longer service cycle between cleanings. Integrated urethane bump seal insures tight, no leak seal over the life of the filter.

I purchased this as a temporary slight upgrade to my OEM filter. However, I was not aware that I had to CUT my OEM filter element from the housing and pry the old element out to try and fit this product in the housing. (which did not fit as per the instructions that came with it) I ended up taking the flange off of my OEM housing where the glue adheres the two peices and compressing the AFE filter to fit. It still did not fit completely once the filter clasps were cinched and duct tape was used to take up the 1/8th inch gap. If you are tight on cash and are considering this filter then I hope you have better luck then me. However, I would recommend spending the extra 140 dollars and purchase the AFE Stage 1 Type Cx intake system 51-10391.

if you have ever changed or cleaned you air filter then this filter is a breeze to install. Take out your stock housing and tap it on the ground. The stock air filter element will drop right out. Slide the afe in with groves up and reinstall it. It will fit back in engine bay identical to stock unit. If you have gaps, then they were already there with stock filter. Fits great, easy to install, and flows better than stock. Plus its way easier to clean then stock filter.

I ordered it on Monday, it was delivered Wednesday afternoon, took an hour to install it. I'm what is called a "pepper tree mechanic". Do my own stuff most of my life when I can. But, I've never replaced a stock Ford filter on this F350 6.0 diesel, much less an aftermarket filter. After messing with it a bit, I decided it was easier to removed both ends of the filter box from the truck, cut the element out of the Ford OEM filter, applied a very small amount of oil to the rubber edge of the new aFe filter and it slipped right in place. Assembled everything back together, put in back in the truck and DONE! During this process I discovered that the last mechanic that replaced the stock filter didn't bother to insert the bottom tabs on the back end of the filter box!!! Nice! Now it's time for a test drive . . .
