Description
The AFE 46-70012 Pro Series Differential Cover brings performance engineering and protection to the rear axle of your Dodge Ram 2500/3500 & GM Silverado.Sierra 2500HD/3500HD . The Pro Series differential cover is constructed out of durable die-cast A380 aluminum with reinforced ribs for maximum strength and styling. Including all necessary hardware with a built-in O-ring this cover makes maintenance a breeze. The Pro Series differential covers include an oil level sight glass as well as a magnetic dip-stick for maximum protection.
This cover increases your lube capacity to 5 quarts! That adds an extra quart over the factory fill with your stock cover. The built-in internal and external fins transfer heat from the fluid to the outside air for maximum cooling. Maintenance and inspection will now be a breeze with the pre-installed oil level sight glass as well as the magnetic drain and fill plug for easy fluid changes.

Just received the part from XDP on 02-05-2014.Opened the box and inspected the part only to find theO-Ring groove is less than 1mm from the Hold down boltcover holes. One of the bolt holes has made contactwith the o-ring groove causing a spur of metal tobreak off and go directly across o-ring groove.The o-ring is substandard and not extruded properly,it has numerous imperfections and is underfinished.All of the plug ports are underfinished and cannotaccept the plugs and dipstick without over torquing.Very poor quality machining and a leak waiting to happen.I strongly do not recommend purchasing/installing thispart on any truck.JDJD Angus Ranch, LLC (Owner)

Have had this on my truck for a few years now, just pulled it off to get it powder coated. I don't know what kind of Powder coat AFE uses, but frankly it sucks. I Also purchased an exhaust from them, and have already had to get the exhaust tip re powder coated as well. Other than the less than par powder coat no complaints.

Does this come with a gasket as well? Just wonder how well the o ring seats and if syn oil will find a way to leak?

Answer
The reusable O-Ring makes for a perfect seal, regardless of the oil. It is no recommended to use a gasket along with the O-Ring.
