CTA Tools 7804 Glow Plug Puller Kit

This kit has everything needed to successfully remove a broken glow plug. I used it on a 5.0 Isuzu NPR HD engine (#3 glow plug). We had broken off the hex trying to unscrew the glow plug. I tried tapping the glow plug to install a left had grade 8 bolt to attempt to unscrew the glow plug again. I just broke the bolt. Now I had to somehow remove the broken bolt (1/2" ball grinder on a drill and a 1/4" cobalt drill bit) to re-establish the hollow core. Then I was able to use the kit's special stepped drill bit to drill out the glow plug back to the threads in the head without damaging the threads in the head. Unfortunately, the stepped portion of the drill bit broke off, but I was able to pound the broken bit down into the hollow tube and continue drilling with no problem. Gotta be careful when drilling! In a few more seconds, the glow plug was drilled back to the threads in the head. I used a pick (per youtube instructions) to remove the shavings from the threads left in the head, then used a magnet to pull out the remainder of the glow plug tool. Finally, I used the appropriate kit thread chaser to clean the threads and then I installed the new glow plug. Frankly, I was sure the cylinder head was going to have to be removed in order to get the broken glow plug out. This kit save me from that exercise. The kit is expensive, but it works. Don't attempt to engineer your own solution. Just bite the bullet and get the kit. End of story!
