Description
The PSC SG851 XD Steering Gear Box will enhance the stability and steering feel of your 1994-2002 Dodge 2500/3500 (4WD). You may have noticed that the steering performance on your 2nd Generation truck is very poor, the result of the use of a small 36mm lower sector shaft support bearing and less-than-ideal placement in the housing. This original design has proven to be insufficient to handle moderate lateral stress loads encountered during daily on-the-road driving, much less in advanced off-road environments.
PSC has addressed these issues with the newly redesigned SG851 Big Bore Steering Gear. The SG851 all but eliminates side-to-side movement of the sector shaft by using a substantially larger lower sector shaft support bearing and increasing the diameter of the sector shaft to 45mm. Improved load-pushing capability is accomplished by an 80mm internal piston assembly and a 16:1 steering ratio delivers exceptional handling and effortless maneuvering.

By replacing the factory 32mm sector shaft and bearing with a 45mm version, this gear box stops side deflection thereby eliminating the need for an aftermarket steering brace. This steering box is manufactured with a 16: 1 steering ratio that results in 3.25 turns lock to lock for easy maneuvering. The factory 32-spline pitman arm is retained and the stock pressure and return lines for a straightforward install. All necessary mounting spacers and hardware is included.

After less than 12k miles, there is lots of slop in my steering. About 3-4 inches. Everything else is new. It's definitely the sector shaft play as the pitman doesn't move at all. Bought in 2021 and everybody that's had slop issues also bought in 2021. After calling multiple times about adjusting the screw to no avail, they wanted me to send the pump in. Even after them saying " we very rarely have issues with those pumps" I couldn't get a replacement or even a small discount on a new one. Even when I asked why the pump increases $273 in 2 years, the answer was "inflation". 44% increase in price on 2 year's do to inflation? Right. Sounds like a once quality company is cutting corners and doesn't care about customers. Makes no sense. Be weary buying this box . You'll be spending the money every few years and risking your life while using it.

Made my driving so much easier. I can almost fall asleep at the wheel it drives so nice. Barely turn the wheel and it drives straight. Very easy to put in!! Well worth the money!!!

Got super sloppy within 2k miles and no luck on getting it swapped out. Not worth the money.
