The Diesel Particulate Filter ( DPF) on Duramax LMMs reduces soot emissions through a process called regeneration. This can cause exhaust gas temps to exceed 1000 degrees at the DPF outlet! Nice compact package and well made but not happy initial result of this product. Power was a little better than stock muffler but fuel mileage decreased. Installed stock system back on and mileage went back up! So it appears that some sort of muffler is needed to create back pressure with the DPF delete. I altered the Banks system and installed an Aero-Turbine muffler which I also purchased from XDP, and the mileage and power increased dramatically. Power and mileage are better than stock now! Nice throaty sound too!! By the way, XDP is far the best!!
