BLOWS EVERYTHING ELSE AWAY
Mitchell (CA) | August 27th, 2008
INSANE POWER. I have an 04.5 dodge with full 4in banks exhaust w/no cat, banks cold air intake, AFE intake manifold, and the six gun with speed loader and egt and boost guages. I haven't lost to a hemi truck yet. I raced a new mustang gt with borla exhaust and it was dead even all the way up to 95mph and i had 6 people in my truck and he was by himself. The look on his face was priceless, his 300hp 3,351lb V8 car wasn't faster than my 8,000lb(with all 6 people included) 4WD quad cab long bed. The power is just unbelievable and on level 3 I am gettin around 20mpg and before was 16-17mpg. Couldn't be happier with banks products, never had a problem since it was installed. BANKS CUSTOMER FOR LIFE. Don't waste your money on anything else.

I have a 2006 3500 Dodge Mega Cab. It is stock because I use it for work and sometimes as a daily driver,However, I want to add a little more power to it but I am not sure if buying this product would be safe to run it on a stock truck like mine. If anyone has any suggestions please post it on this website. Thanks!

Should stayed with Smarty
Rollin Coal (Denver) | June 24th, 2010
I originally bought a MADS Smarty tuner for my truck. I loved the tunes for it but didn't like how it wasn't shift on the fly. So I bought this to replace it. It doesn't compare. The banks system has less power, less response and less fuel mileage than my smarty. I wish I wouldn't have got this but I will say the shift on the fly is nice and convenient.Bottom line is, buy smarty if you want performance and buy Banks if you want convenience.

Power without the destruction
Ken (bossier city, LA) | June 10th, 2011
This tuner is perfect for the guy that is looking to get the most USEABLE, SAFE and DEPENDABLE power out of their rig. It isnt the fastest or quickest because it was designed that way to keep the engine, trans and turbo from tearing up. Look into other more aggresive programmers like "bully dog" and "smarty" if you have lot of $$$ to drop after you have ruined the engine, turbo or trans or give it to someone you dont like as a gift.

04.5 Cummins
Ben (Oklahoma) | June 11th, 2014
Please don't waste your money on this. I've had it on for about two months trying to get it to work. And though it has a green light and tech support has walked me through everything twice there is no power difference at all. Nothing I do will make it work so I pulled it of. On the fly shifting is why I bought it and now I realize it wouldn't even be that useful if the thing worked. Save you're money and buy something else like I should have and now have to.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Six Gun increase HP?

Does it increase fuel rail pressure past factory specs? What MPG gains?

The Six Gun is designed to increase injection timing and rail pressure to obtain the +126 HP/+290 lb-ft TQ. (All done within spec to be sure you don’t cause any issues with the engine.) The increase in HP will better your fuel economy depending on how the truck is being driven and supporting modifications.

As per Banks: “Some people think that once airflow is increased, additional fuel must be added at all times, and that would hurt fuel mileage. This is not the case during normal driving. Increasing airflow means an engine doesn't have to work as hard to overcome pumping losses. In other words, power that was previously consumed by pumping losses will be available to do work after airflow enhancements have been made. Or, looking at this from the economy standpoint, the same amount of work can now be done while consuming less power (fuel). So in effect, what really happens is that during normal driving, fuel consumption required to achieve equal acceleration or cruising speeds will be less than before the flow enhancements were made.

Because it is improved airflow that increases engine efficiency, it should be noted that power "chips" that simply increase fuel delivery do nothing to improve fuel economy. The same can be said for bigger fuel injectors. Both power chips and bigger injectors simply add fuel to make power. They do nothing to reduce pumping losses or improve the efficiency of an engine. This is just one more area where the Banks approach of "first air, then fuel" adds overall operating value to a vehicle.”

How is the six gun installed?

Does it work with Manual Transmission? Are tuners only for automatic transmissions or is there some that can be used with a Manual Transmission. I have a 5-9 Cummins (2003) with 6 speed manual

All programmers generally work on both Auto and Manual Transmissions unless noted otherwise on the website.

What are the settings from one to six?

Level 1 is stock. Each additional higher level adds approximately 20% of the available power increase. (Example: Stock, 20HP, 40HP, 65HP, 85HP & 105HP)
