Description

If you're pushing your 2006-2007 Dodge 5.9L Diesel with an automatic transmission past 350 horsepower, you need the Fleece FPE-CLNTBYPS-0607 Coolant Bypass Kit. When horsepower is increased, the demand for extra cooling is increased, stressing the factory cooling system. The rear cylinders begin to suffer from a lack of coolant flow, and therefore, experience the highest coolant temperatures. This can cause critical pressure levels to build in the system, especially the rear of the block, and possibly blow out freeze plugs externally, or the smaller diameter plugs under the valve cover, leading to a failure.

Fleece has designed their coolant bypass kit with a secondary thermostat which operates based off of temperature. This allows the rear cylinders to receive adequate cooling, solving the issue of excessive pressure buildup before it ever becomes a problem. Included in this complete kit are high quality O-ring fittings, AN hose connections with your choice of braided black nylon or braided stainless steel hose to ensure a leak-free installation.

Features:
  • Prevents Critical Cooling System Pressure
  • Head Removal Not Required For Installation
  • Includes Secondary Temperature Operated Thermostat
  • Ensures Consistent Coolant Temperature Across All Cylinders
  • Available with Braided Black Nylon or Braided Stainless Steel Hose
  • 1 Year Limited Warranty
Application Notes:
For trucks with automatic transmissions only.
This coolant bypass kit will eliminate the factory transmission fluid heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is designed for use in cold climates to warm the transmission fluid with the engine coolant. It is not necessary for use in warm climates or high horsepower applications, nor does it detrimentally affect the trucks performance when removed.

Let’s face it. Fleece is at the top of the totem pole. If my bank accounts were setup differently I would probably have every miscellaneous part they offer for my truck. But back to the coolant bypass. I ordered one for my 2007 Ram 2500 with the 5.9 to get rid of the heat exchanger and it has done just that! Of course with the addition of custom new transmission lines. Would highly recommend if you have some spare cash to blow!
Worth every penny!!

Easy install takes roughly about 30 minutes to install will the engine out. Beautiful braided hose and craftsmanship!

What’s the difference between the automatic and manual kit?
View Staff Answer
Answer
The ’03-’07 5.9L automatic transmission version will eliminate the factory transmission fluid heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is not a fluid cooler; it was designed for use in cold climates to warm the transmission fluid with the engine coolant. It is not necessary for use in warm climates or high horsepower applications, nor does it detrimentally affect the trucks performance when removed. All ‘07-‘16 6.7 trucks, both automatic and manual equipped transmissions, do not have a transmission fluid heat exchanger.
