The transmission's nervous system is the valve body, which converts electronic signals from the TCM into hydraulic operations. The clutch-to-clutch design on the 68-RFE is non-synchronous. This means that shifts from gear to gear must be precisely timed for the friction clutches to release and apply perfectly.
