The BD-Power 1081160 Cool Down Timer 2 eliminates the problems of shutting your engine down after a heavy haul when the exhaust gas temperature (EGT) is above normal. This can result in turbo bearing damage, but now you can protect your turbo with BDs Cool Down Timer (CDT). The CDT works with any K-Type EGT probe commonly found in most pyrometer gauge kits and has adjustable shut down temperature setting. Plus, five-minute timeout and quick shut down functions.

The new design of the CDT adds increased troubleshooting ability and new installation features plus the ability to work with vehicle security alarms and in reducing regeneration of the DPF on 2008-up vehicles. Temperature shutoff requires the purchase of the EGT Probe (sold separately, see below).

  • Shut Down By Timer
  • Shut Down By Temperature (Requires Probe)
  • Avoid Turbocharger Damage
  • Works With Any K-Type EGT Probe (Sold Separately, See Below)

Works great so far on my 07 5.9 CTD, no error codes or CEL as of yet. Hopefully this continues to be the case.

Love the fact that this turbo timer works well. But the one thing they dont mention for the 03-07 6.0's is that the factory ford program that allows the radio to stay on after you turn the truck off will also stay on with the timer bc it doesnt trigger the door switch to turn the radio off. So when I installed it and walked away, my radio was up loud so i could hear it even though the timer had cycled and shut the truck down. It doesnt go off until the factory timer of like 10 or 15 mins is up. An there is no way of changing that door trigger to trip once the turbo timer has finished. Wish they had said that.

Purchased a couple of years ago, was super easy to install, did it in the garage in about an hour. Great directions, just set it to the desired shut off temp, and it works everytime. The only problem i had was that my remote locks dont work for a lil bit after it shuts off. If i dont try to go back out to it for a couple hours, they work fine... All in all it's a great product, and can save potentially thousands of dollars of damamge to turbo. Highly Recommended!

When the key is turned off, the CDT2 module will keep the power supplied to the ECM/PCM, which will in turn keep the engine running. On late model vehicles the CDT2 keeps most or all of the vehicle ignition system and accessories powered until engine shutdown, on early model vehicles only the engine will remain running.
