Bilstein 24-196284 B8 5100 Series Steering Damper

I experienced a lot of steering drift with factory stabilizer shock. This Bilstein steering stabilizer has been the answer to a better driving truck.

Works as it should and looks good. That’s all you can ask.

Installed this on a 2011 F-350 dually. Before it would wander going down the road, after installing this new up graded steering stabilizer the truck drives like new. Would recommend for a cost effective option to up grade from wore out factory parts.

The latter part of July I experienced my first death wobble in my 2015 F250 with 104000 miles on it. I took it to a local shop where they replaced the stabilizer bar, ball joint assembly, tie rod end, and spindle rod ends. I could definitely tell an improvement in the steering. But about 2000 miles later I had another death wobble. Took it back to the shop but they couldn't look at it for two weeks and I needed my truck within two weeks. They suggested they could change the steering damper. I took a look at the steering damper and saw it was easy to replace. After some research I decided to go with a Bilstein 5100 Steering Damper. I picked up a Tie Rod and Pitman Arm Puller from the local Chinese tool store to remove the tapered linkage bolt. That was money well spent. Then the question was how much torque to use. Online values are all over the place. I finally went with 59 ft-lbs on the frame bolt and 66 ft-lbs on the link nut. The Bilstein 5100 made another big improvement in steering. Time will tell if my death wobble is fixed but I drove on some really rough roads this past weekend with no problem.

Truck developed a death wobble. Noticed the dampener on the truck was blown out. Replaced it with this, got the truck aligned, and then the steering wheel got tighter and the death wobble went away. Order number 2036385
