The stock oil cooler on the 6.0L Powerstroke truck is known to get clogged with debris in the coolant. Once this happens, the cooler is no longer effective, and the oil can’t properly lubricate the engine. The engine and components like the turbocharger, high-pressure oil pump, and injectors can all wear prematurely. Another failure point is the oil cooler can crack between the oil and coolant layers, causing the higher-pressure oil to get into the cooling system.
