Replace the high-mileage Powerstroke diesel in your Super Duty with a Choate Reman 6.7 Short Block Crate Engine - Daily Driver. The Daily Driver series is the ultimate foundation for building a dependable engine. Whether you're hauling your camper to the campsite, or towing your boat to the lake, or simply commuting to work this engine ensures reliability when you need it most. Each engine block is surfaced to a finish of RA30 or lower, meeting factory specifications for flatness and smoothness, which is crucial for proper sealing with MLS gaskets. Cylinder bores are blueprint bored to a precise 90 degrees from the crankshaft centerline, followed by diamond honing to within .0002 inches for accurate piston-to-cylinder bore clearances. Piston diameters are meticulously measured to the nearest .0001 inches to ensure a perfect match with cylinder bores.
Full CNC blueprint machining process encompasses boring, decking,
honing, and line honing, with careful checks on wrist pin and crank pin
to rod clearances. New freeze plugs are included to enhance durability. The crankshaft is balanced and weight-matched, polished, and ground to a concentricity of .0005 inches or less. The camshaft is also polished and inspected for quality assurance. HX high-performance bearings are installed, along with a rear main seal,
rear cover gasket, upper and lower oil pans, and a pickup tube O-ring. The Daily Driver series includes several upgrades over the Model C, such as torque plate
honing, full engine balancing, a new harmonic balancer, and a new flex
plate.

Choate Short Block Note:
Short Block engines typically consist of just a rotating assembly inside an engine block and are ready for the final buildup. This short block does not include cylinder heads, bolt-on components such as the front cover, valve covers, intake, exhaust, fuel system, or turbo components. These items will need to be changed over from your existing engine or purchased new, and installed onto your new Choate Short Block before installation into your truck.
Common Issues (and How Choate Fixes Them):
Main and Rod Bearing Clearance Issues (Spun Bearings) - The Choate fix includes machining for the correct clearances as well as upgraded bearings designed to handle higher levels of stress.
Spun Crank Gear - Standard on all 6.7 builds, the crank gear is TIG welded into place to help avoid timing issues and the risk of timing issues which can be bend all 32 pushrods.
Cam Tunnel Misalignment - The issue here comes with the aftermarket fix which is to use larger clearance bearings. This in turn causes low oil pressure. Choate's 6.7’s see on average 5lbs more oil pressure at startup than others.

Note:
2011-2012 6.7 Powerstrokes came stock from Ford with a 8-bolt flexplate and torque converter that are no longer manufactured.
All 6.7 Powerstroke balanced assemblies from Choate Engineering come with the updated 6-bolt flexplate from 2013+ and require the customer to update the torque converter.
