XDP carries the Full Send Diesel FSDDRPINHE0309CU Billet Transmission Heat Exchanger that can help resolve the issue with the transmission in your 2003-2009 Dodge 5.9L/6.7L Diesel. This billet heat exchanger offers all the benefits of efficient heat transfer and cooling while ensuring reliability by eliminating the possibility of failure and cross-contamination of the engine coolant & trans fluid. This heat exchanger is a plug-and-play solution and is compatible with a completely stock truck while requiring no additional hardware. To install, simply replace your stock heat exchanger with this thoroughly engineered billet heat exchanger.
The motivation for developing this billet heat exchanger stems from numerous experiences with factory exchangers failing internally. Such failures result in the unfortunate mixing of engine antifreeze with transmission fluid. This often leads to transmission damage and contaminating the truck's cooling system with a troublesome milky red fluid. Neglecting to properly flush the coolant and transmission fluid from the coolant system can ultimately cause engine failures as well.
This heat exchanger is precision-cut from a solid block of aluminum, featuring coolant passages on one side and transmission fluid passages on the other. No welded seams or tubes means that this heat exchanger will never fail over time. FDS stands behind this product with a 100% guarantee that cross-contamination will not occur under any circumstances.
Do you need a heat exchanger? Why not just bypass it?
These are common questions that FSD encounters daily and regrettably, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to this query. In any climatic condition, the presence of a heat exchanger proves to be beneficial. In warmer climates, it serves to cool the transmission fluid, while in colder circumstances, it aids in warming the transmission fluid.
The Dodge trucks were originally equipped with a heat exchanger for a purpose, and FSD firmly believes in their considerable advantages. As long as the heat exchanger doesn't fail, causes transmission damage due to inherent flaws in the factory design. With this heat exchanger now available in the market, FSD has successfully addressed this significant drawback, effectively eliminating any potential issues or problems.
How does the heat exchanger work?
Unfortunately, there is a lot of misunderstanding about heat exchangers because people don't understand how they work. In short, hot engine coolant runs through one side, and transmission fluid runs through the other side. In hot climates when the transmission fluid temperature exceeds the engine coolant temperature, the heat from the trans fluid will be absorbed into the cooling system thus being cooled off through the radiator. In cold climates, the engine coolant helps warn up and maintain correct transmission fluid temperatures by absorbing heat from the engine cooling system.
